Abstract

The title of this research is“Kecemasan Tokoh Utama Dalam Novel Machinal Karya Sophie Treadwell”. This research was conducted to determine the types of anxiety felt by the main character named Helen and the factors that caused anxiety to occur in the main character. The method used is descriptive qualitative approach to literary psychology. Based on the results of research based on the theory of anxiety, it can be seen if Helen feels three types of anxiety, namely: reality, neurotic, and moral anxiety. The factors are causing anxieties, namely: environment, repressed emotions, and physical causes.
