Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of comic media in social studies learning in the history of the nation's struggle for the 5th grade students of elementary school. This research is a type of classroom action research. Data collection methods used are observation, tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used is in accordance with the four processes of classroom action research, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The results of the study that can show an increase in the ability of students seen from the first cycle showed an increase in the average value from 1,8% at pretest to 4,8% in the first cycle showed an increase of 4%. In cycle II the ability to recognize the history of students experienced a classical increase to 9,2%. thus this study shows that through comic media can improve students' ability to recognize the history of the nation's struggle.
