Abstract

This research is motivated by the factors of low interest and ability of students in writing. This research is a quantitative research which aims to: 1) determine the initial ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Parakansalak Sukabumi District 2018/2019 in writing fables. 2) knowing the ability of class VIII Parakansalak State Middle School 1 Sukabumi District 2018/2019 Academic Year in writing fables using cartoon media. 3) knowing the effect of cartoon film media on the ability to write fables in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Parakansalak, Sukabumi District, Academic Year 2018/2019. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method or often called a quasi experiment by using a pretest and posttest group research design with a total sample of 26 students. Each student conducted two tests, namely pretest and posstest. The research instrument used was in the form of tests, observation and documentation. The hypothesis in this study is that learning to write using cartoon media has an effect on the ability to write fables of class VIII A Parakansalak Middle School 1 Sukabumi District. The results showed that the average value obtained by students at the pretest of 55,153 had an increase in the results of the posttest with a value of 72,038. The calculation results of each test were carried out using the t test on the pretest and posstest so that the results of tcount 28.920> t table 1.708 were obtained. These results indicate a significant difference between pretest and posstest. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that the use of cartoon media has an effect and can improve students' abilities in learning to write fables.
