Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Flipped Classroom on the ability to solve problems of high school students. Sampling research by way of Purposive Sampling, namely the selection of samples based on certain considerations of teachers Biology. The experimental class is applied by using Flated Classroom Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and control class using Group Assignment. The method used is quasi experiment, with research subjects class X IPA 4 and X IPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kota Sukabumi. Design research with nonequivalent control group design. The instrument used is a problem solving test in the form of essay problem consisting of 6 indicators that identify problem, collect data, analyze problem, solve problem based on data, choose how to solve problem, plan implementation of problem. and student response questionnaire to model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Flipped Classroom Consist of 4 indicators. Data Collection Techniques use Problem Solving and Student Problem solving tests. The Z test statistic is used to analyze the data obtained. Based on calculation of Z test, Zhitung = 13,883> Ztabel (0,05) = 1,994 then H0 is rejected and H1 accepted. The results showed that the improvement of students' ability in solving problems differed significantly between the classes with PBL assisted Flipped Classroom with learning Discovery Learning. Student responses to the Flipped Classroom-assisted PBL model responded positively to the results of the overall response criteria agreed. So in conclusion, the use of the Flipped Classroom-assisted PBL model has a significant effect on students’ ability to solve problems.
