Abstract
Introduction : Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition that occurs when the body cannot produce insulin which is characterized by an increase in the amount of glucose in the blood, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the body does not effectively utilize the insulin it produces. According to the Iworld Health Organization (WHO), Indonesia ranks fourth in terms of the highest number of DM sufferers in the world after India, China and the United States. Objective: The author can provide the application of health education about a low sugar diet to families with diabetes mellitus Methods: This researcher uses a descriptive research method in the form of a case study with a Nursing Care approach, which includes assessment, nursing diagnoses, planning, implementation and evaluation. Done in Pasekon village. Result : Based on the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. In Mrs. O's patient, three nursing diagnoses were found, the first diagnosis in Mrs. O was resolved on May 3, 2021 and the second diagnosis was resolved on May 4, 2021, and for the third diagnosis, the diagnosis was resolved on May 5, 2021. Conclusion: In patients with diabetes mellitus, precisely in Mrs. O, the three problems were resolved, namely, lack of knowledge about the type of food for DM patients, lack of knowledge of the amount of food for DM patients, and lack of knowledge of the diet schedule of DM patients. Suggestion: This case study is expected to be a reference in carrying out nursing care for patients with Diabetes Mellitus
