Abstract

The puerperium (puerperium) or post partum period is the period after delivery is completed up to 6 weeks or 42 days, after which the reproductive organs will slowly return to their original state before pregnancy. The problem that arises for post partum mothers is that there is pain in the perineal suture. The purpose of this study was to understand and apply the action of lavender aromatherapy in cases of acute pain in perineal wounds. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews, and case studies. The results showed a decrease in pain scale after being given lavender aromatherapy on perineal wound pain with a scale of 5 (0-10) to 2 (0-10) measured by the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Lavender aromatherapy is effective for reducing acute perineal wound pain and lavender aromatherapy can be an alternative complementary therapy to reduce acute perineal wound pain in postpartum mothers. The next author's suggestion hopes that it can be used as information material for lavender aromatherapy techniques to reduce acute pain of perineal wounds for postpartum mothers.
