Abstract

Quartz Sand has a really good prospect for smooth aggregate in the making of concrete mixture. Sukabumi Regency has big enough deposit of Kuarsa Sand and used by the local people as a material in construction needs. One of the location that has Kuarsa Sand is Wanajaya, Cisolok, Pelabuhanratu. Uniquely, the local people almost using 100% Kuarsa Sand as a concrete mixture in building a construction, even it’s just for building an ordinary house that has one floor. silica (SiO2) up to 56.25% in Quartz Sand Wanajaya. The scale of silica that contains in Kuarsa Sand potentially used for concrete mixture to high quality so using Kuarsa Sand can be more efficient. The purpose of this research is to acknowledge the impact of using Kuarsa Sand Wanajaya as smooth aggregate dan it’s substitution for planning of high strength concrete 45 MPa. This examination using experiment method in laboratory based on SNI and ASTM, this examination involve compressive strength and concrete porosity. The result of the examination is when using quartz Sand Wanajaya has compressive strength that increase as much as the presentation of quartz Sand increase. This is caused by particle gradation is harder than tide sand so the quality of concrete is better up to 50.48 MPa at the age of 28 days. Concrete with Kuarsa Sand Wanajaya caused porosity of concrete is decreasing. This is because concrete with Kuarsa Sand Wanajaya is solid that has hard up to 7.74% at 28 days. gradation and has 2,65 of density so it can increase the solidity of the mixture because of it’s physical characteristic. So it can be concluded that concrete with Kuarsa Sand Wanajaya in it will be more efficient for infrastructure constraction such as bridge,Precast beam , building, road construction and any other facility that has to be quick in its process.
