Abstract

The main character's resistance to patriarchal culture in Yuni's novel by Ade Ubaidil. Yuni's novel by Ade Ubaidil is a conditional novel from a film titled Yuni directed by Kamila Andini. This novel raises gender issues that focus on women, by holding back resistance to the injustice experienced by a character named Yuni. This study aims to show the characters and characterizations of Yuni and the three men who came to propose to her as well as the resistance of the female character to patriarchal culture in Ade Ubaidil's novel Yuni. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method by means of descriptive analysis. This study uses structural theory to determine characters and characterizations as well as feminist literary criticism and resistance theory to analyze the forms of women's resistance to patriarchal culture experienced by the main character in the novel. The form of resistance carried out by Yuni as the main character is done to gain freedom as a woman. Based on the research conducted, it can be interpreted that Yuni's novel by Ade Ubaidil contains an act of closed resistance which is an attitude of holding back anger when being ridiculed and open rejection shown by Yuni's attitude when rejecting an application from the first man, when refusing an application from the second man who wants Yuni became his second wife, and when Yuni ran away from her marriage to a third man it was a form of freedom that Yuni wanted to get
