Abstract

The research was conducted at SD Negeri Gunung Jaya and the subjects in this study were 29 students. When observing mathematics learning multiplication material in grade II, during mathematics learning the teacher still uses the lecture method, so learning becomes monotonous. In addition, teachers also have not used arithmetic methods that make it easier for students to learn multiplication. Students become burdened by their memory to memorize multiplication, students look forced so that learning feels boring. Based on these problems, researchers are interested in using Jarimatika to overcome these problems. The results of the study showed that learning mathematics using the Jarimatika method was able to improve the ability to count multiplication in class II students at SD Negeri Gunung Jaya. Based on the effect of learning mathematics on students' multiplication counting abilities through the Jarimatika method, in the first cycle it reached 72.41%, while in the second cycle it experienced an increase of 82.75. With this increase, it can be conclusion that the Jarimatika method has an effect on increasing students' multiplication counting abilities. This shows several points that the use of Jarimatika can be encouraged as an alternative method to increase students' skills in dealing with multiplication and counting issue and to make learning more interesting using various methods
