Abstract

This study aims to improve students' abilty to solve math word problem at SD Negeri Selajambe 2 Kec.CisaatSukabumi, using the problem solving method in Classroom Action Research for 2 cycle. The results showed that the application of the problem solving methode could improve students’ abilities. At the Pre-cycle stage, the average score of students in solving word problem was 64,7. After applying the problem solving methid in cycle I, there was an increase in value to 67,9 . in addition, students’ ability to solve word problem also increased from 10,5% in the Pre-cycle stage to 52,6% in cycle I. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the application of the problem solving method significantly improves students’ abilities in solving math story problem in elemntary school. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ ability to solve math word problem using the problem solving learning method.
