Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a tropical climate. As a tropical region, Indonesia has the potential to become an endemic area of various infectious diseases that pose a threat to public health at any time. One of the infectious diseases is ISPA. ISPA often occurs with nasal congestion. One way to overcome nasal congestion is to give hot water vapor and eucalyptus oil by inhalation. The purpose of the study was to compare the effectiveness of giving hot water steam added with eucalyptus oil to airway clearance in Toodler children with upper respiratory tract infection disorders. The method used in this research is the technique of interviewing the client's family and giving hot water steam therapy and eucalyptus oil to the client. Eucalyptus oil is produced from the leaves of the Melaleuca leucadendra plant with the largest content being eucalyptol (cineole). Cineole has the effect of thinning phlegm, relieving breathing, anti-inflammatory and reducing the rate of exacerbations of obstructive pulmonary cases well. From the results of the research conducted, it showed a positive effect on children, namely reducing nasal congestion and breathing back to normal. And it can be concluded that the administration of hot water therapy and eucalyptus oil is effective for clients with ARI disorders. As well as families, especially parents of respondents, are able to do therapy by giving hot water steam and eucalyptus oil to airway clearance in Toodler children with upper respiratory tract infection disorders independently.
