Abstract

Stroke is a permanent neurological disorder due to narrowing of blood circulation to the brain, which occurs for about 24 hours or more. Stroke attacks the left brain and affects the speech center, it is possible that the patient will experience speech disorders or aphasia. One of the aphasia disorders is motor aphasia. Motor aphasia is damage to the surface layer of Broca's area, which is characterized by difficulty in controlling coordination, and speech is often not understood by others. One way to restore speech ability can be applied to AIUEO therapy. This study aims to identify the effect of AIUEO therapy on the speech ability of stroke patients with motor aphasia. The data of this research were taken by using interview, observation, and physical examination methods. . Participants were taken as many as one respondent, namely a 52-year-old client who had a stroke with motor aphasia with a derby scale score of 9 in the moderate aphasia category. The action given is AIUEO therapy with treatment 1x a day for 3 consecutive days. The results showed that an increase in speech ability from the E=3, P=3, I=4 scale, to E=7, P=7, I=7 increased after being given AIUEO therapy. The recommendation of this study is that AIUEO therapy can be used. nursing interventions in training patients to improve speaking skills.
