Abstract

NOVI ARYANTI. Making Bioethanol from Banana Peels Using Activated Natural Zeolite NaOH. Supervised by DIKDIK MULYADI and LELA MUKMILAH Fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas have become the main energy sources at this time. However, that source his source will run out in the next 40 ˗ 50 years. It resulted in the need to develop clean alternative energy as a substitute for fossil fuels. Another alternative source of energy that can be used is bioethanol. Bioethanol is produced from vegetable substances containing glucose and starch, to be the bioethanol of banana peel in fermentation with Saccharomycess cerevisiae and the distillation process, followed by an adsorption process. The bioethanol adsorption of banana peel is done with variations in the method used. Variations used include adsorbent mass and stirring time, the adsorbent used is natural zeolite activated NaOH. From the results of each characterised using gas chromatography The characterization results of the bioethanol content from the distillation were 6.5% and the bioethanol content from the distillation-adsorption results were respectively 1.028%, 1.337%, 3.261%, 3.463% 5.780%, 1.256%, 0.306%, and 0.271%
