Abstract

ommunication that occurs in a community will lead to the use of diverse languages, which in turn will lead to variants of the code. Usually the code will be used according to the situation and also the conditions at the time the communication takes place. One of the code variants is a code switching event. Code switching is a code switching event from one language to another. The purpose of this research is to describe or describe the form of code switching contained in social media video blooging and the factors that cause the event of code switching. The research design carried out in this research is descriptive qualitative research design. The data obtained for analysis in the form of oral data which is then transferred into writing. Because the data obtained comes from the use of language used by a vlogger in several videos that have been displayed in a YouTube channel. Data collection techniques used in this study are 1) the search phase, 2) data collection, 3) listening, 4) taking notes, and finally analyzing. The conclusion that can be drawn from the results of this study is that the code switching contained in this vlog is in the form of internal code switching and also the extra code switching. Internal code switching occurs in the form of code switching from ragambahasa, namely from a formal variety to an informal religion and vice versa. Whereas for the transfer of external code in the form of transferring the code from Indonesian into a foreign language, namely English. The factors that cause the occurrence of code switching events in this study are due to the factors of the speaker or speaker himself, which is used to clarify the information and also explain something. In addition, a factor in the transfer of the code is the change of topic.
