Abstract

his research is motivated by the lack of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the social studies of students of class V SDN II Selabintana Sukabumi in the academic year 2019/2020. This study aims to describe the learning process using cooperative think, pair, share type of elementary school students and describe the improvement of critical thinking learning using think, pair, share of elementary school students in social studies subjects. Think pair and share are learning strategies that have explicitly established procedures to give students more time to think, answer and help one another. Furthermore, if if the teacher has finished the presentation and the student has read the assignment, the teacher will ask students to think more deeply on what has been explained or understood. The results showed an increase from the first cycle of student learning scores obtained an average achievement of students 68% then in the second cycle increased to 76%. Based on the increase in grades and the percentage of students' mastery learning shows that the Thinking Pair Share cooperative learning model to improve critical thinking can improve learning in fifth grade students of social studies subjects
