Abstract

An expert system is a computer-based system that uses knowledge, facts and reasoning techniques in performing problem solving that only an expert in their field can do. Expert systems are created on a specific scale based on the level of expertise of an expert in a particular field. The expert system looks for solutions as experts do. The expert system can also provide an explanation of the steps taken and provide a suggestion or conclusiveness of the results found. The development carried out on the expert system in this study focused on car electricity. The damage done to the electricity of the car is a damage that ¬needs the help of an expert to find a solution based on the knowledge of experts. This system is created using the Forward Chaining method where in this method the system performs reasoning in the future, meaning that in the expert system diagnose damage, the system displays symptoms that occur at a breakdown and draws conclusions based on the symptoms taken. The system is created using the PHP programming language by using the CodeIgniter framework and using the MySQL database.
