Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning process of science and improve communication skills through the model inside the outside circle. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning actions, implementing actions, observing actions and reflecting actions. The subjects of this study were 38 students in grade 4A at SDN Cimanggah 1, Sukabumi City, consisting of 19 male students and 19 female students. This research was conducted from April 25 to May 25, 2019. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Data collection instruments were carried out with interview guidelines, teacher and student observation sheets, communication skills questionnaire sheets, and documentary evidence. The data analysis technique was done by using descriptive quantitative technique. The results of observations of teacher performance in the first cycle obtained an average value of 78% and in the second cycle obtained an average value of 90% and from cycle I to cycle II increased by 12%. While the results of observation of student activities in the first cycle obtained an average value of 59% and in the second cycle obtained an average value of a percentage of 88% and from the first cycle to the second cycle increased by 29%. The results of the pre cycle research of communication skills gained 16% completeness. Then increased in the first cycle to reach 26% completeness. In the second cycle, it continues to reach 84% completeness. The conclusion of this study shows that communication skills in grade 4A increase through the application of the Inside Outside Circle model.
