Abstract

The title was entitled “Coordination Among Institutions in Handling People with Mental Disorders in Sukabumi City”. The research was triggered because people with mental disorder were still frequently found displaced and wandering around Sukabumi City. The handling of people with mental disorders was not the only one institution’s responsibility. Coordination among Social Department, Health Department, and Public Orders Enforces was needed. The researcher applied coordination theory from Hasibuan consisting of four primary dimensions, such as unity of action, communication, work division, and discipline. Research method applied was qualitative. The data acquired were from observation, interview and documentation. The procedures of data validation test were conducted by means of triangulation. The process of data analysis utilized the model stated by Miles and Huberman. The result of the research shows that coordination in handling people with mental disorder has not been maximum due to the absence of action unity among institutions, unintensive communication among institutions, and unoptimal work division. Suggestion given by the researcher that there shall be unity of actions among variables, meeting for coordination conducted regularly, guidelines agreed by all institutions. Regional government shall also provide estimation for rehabilitation center construction in Sukabumi.
