Abstract

This research titled Calque in the novel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. The research’s purposes are for explaining Calque in the novel Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and to describe how the quality of translation in the readability aspect. The method used in this research is qualitative-descriptive. The technique used in this research is content-analysis by writing the document, and the steps to analyze data are data reduction, data display and verification. The source of the data are from the novel titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins as the source language and the novel titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (tersulut) by Suzanne Collins which is translated by Hetih Rusli. The theory used are; translation theory based on Catford (1965),the theory of Calque is based on Molina Albir (2002) and the quality of translation in readability aspect is based on Nababan (2012), the readability theory is based on Richard (2010). The result of this research is that the readability scale is good enough, it approaches 153 data (89%) the data that got 3 by the reason that the meaning of Calques based on KBBI are easier to understand by the whole reader. While another 18 data got 2 scale (11%). In the other hand, there are 57 words included to Calque. Therefore it can be concluded that a good percentage shows a good readability as well.
