Abstract

This research is entitled homonymy in novel of “The Baby Sitter Club Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies” which will reveal the homonymy words and the meaning of intention. The research method used in this study is qualitative with descriptive analysis through a semantic approach. Based on the results of the study, there are homonymy words expressed through their types, namely homophones and homographs, as well as the meaning of intention from the homophone words and homographs. The relevant theory in this study is used homonym theory by Palmer (1976), Yule (2010), Pateda (2010) and Kroeger (2019), and theories for the meaning of intention based on Shipley (1962) (In Pateda 2010). The results of this study have found twelve data for homophone homonymy words and six data for homonymy homograph type in each sentence contained in the novel The Baby Sitter Club Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies and ten data for intention meaning of the homonymys word in this research.
