Abstract

This research background is motivated by students' low understanding that has been seen in the daily exams. The purpose of the research is to describe the aplication of discovery learning model and the students understanding's improvement result in sains object about structure and function of plant parts. The research method is classroom action research using The Kemmis and Taggart cycle model. This reasearch is conducted for two cycles using data collection tools such as test result and observation sheet. The learning process using discovery learning model has given good influence for understanding concept. The result of this research if using discovery learning model can improve students' understanding. The improvement can be seen from the average value of concept understanding test in pre cycle is 59.00 to 63.32 in cycle I, so that it increased 4.32 in understanding concept with 59% classical completeness. The average value of students' understanding concept in cyclus I is 63.32 to 74.12 in cyclus II, so that having increasement 10.8 with 82% classical completeness.
