Abstract

This research aims to improve students' speaking skills through the jigsaw learning model of fifth grade students of SD Negri Baros Kencana, CBM, Sukabumi City. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and Taggart designs. The study participants were class VD students at SD Negri Baros Kencana CBM, totaling 42 students. The research subject is speaking skills. This research was conducted in 2 cycles equipped with data collection methods used were interviews, observation, tests, and documentation, the data analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative. Learning speaking skills using a jigsaw model shows a good process and a positive response. The results of the study show the process of using a jigsaw learning model can improve students' speaking skills. The increase can be seen from the average value of students' speaking skills in the initial observation that is 56.95 to 64 in the first cycle, so that it increases by 7.05 with classical completeness of 57%. The average value of speaking skills in the first cycle was 64 to 84.19 in the second cycle so that it experienced a large increase of 20.19 with a classical completeness of 98%.
