Abstract

The title of the research is Ekspedisi Tokoh Utama dalam Novel The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon Karya David Grann. The purpose of this research is to reveal the description of the main character’s expedition as an event and to reveal about the main character’s effort in survival in the novel The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann. The method used in this research is qualitative method in descriptive form, with used structural approach. The description of the main character’s expedition using actan scheme and functional structure by A.J Greimas structuralism theory. So, it can be seen that the main character’s expedition in novel The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann are described by eight actans, according to expedition done by the main character for eight times. From the eight expeditions, the main character experienced five times successes and three times failures in achieving his goals, until the main character declared disappeared at the end.
