Abstract

The title of the research is “Gaya Bahasa Sindiran dalam Novel Me Before You karya Jojo Moyes”. The research was conducted to reveal the style of satire and technique of satire. The method deployed in this research is qualitative descriptive analyses by means of stylistic approach. Data collected technique applied teknik baca catat based on Sudaryanto’s theory (2003). This research applied satire theory and technique of satire of Feinberg (1967) and type of satire irony based on Feinberg (1967) and sarcasm based on Abrams (1999). Based on the result of the research, it is revealed that there are two types of satire, such as irony, and sarcasm. Satire irony, this satire is delivered with reversed the fact, and satire sarcasm is delivered rudely. There are three technique of satire in this research, such as exaggeration technique, disparaging Comparison technique, and Parody Technique. The satire used by the author as one of the way to express criticism, exasperation and annoyance from the characters in the novel.
