Abstract

Sago fiber in the manufacture of normal concrete is used for additives in concrete mixtures. This is only done with the aim of being able to utilize sago fiber which has not been used in making concrete. The existence of this phenomenon is carried out research to find out how the effect of using sago fiber as an additional material in normal concrete mixtures. This test uses an experimental method in the laboratory by referring to SNI and ASTM, testing includes compressive strength and flexural strength. The test results showed that the use of sago fiber resulted in a more effective increase used in beam bending elements in the structure of buildings or bridges. Where the flexural strength of the concrete increases in the mixture of 0.5%. the increase in flexural strength in concrete can be caused because the sago fiber can bind the aggregate of the concrete constituent, while the flexural strength of the 1-2% mixture decreases due to the absorption of water on sago fiber is very large. The results of the press quota decreased for all mixed results compared to 0% concrete because the sago fiber absorbed the water so that the concrete mixture became drier, this resulted in the cement hydration process not running perfectly. As for other causes because when mixing sago fiber into bowling (clumping).
