Abstract

DHERUS RAKASI. Distribution of Microplastic Contents in Sediment Cipalabuan Estuary Palabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi. Supervised by Robin and Novita MZ. Microplastic is a plastic that decomposes into small particles of small size <5 mm formed from photodegredation events by sunlight. The purpose of this study was to examine the microplastic distribution exposed to sediments in Muara Cipalabuan Palabuhanratu and compare the number of microplatic in each of stations. Sampling is divided into three sampling points determined by using purposive sampling. Analysis of microplastic was carried out by drying the sediment sample, then dissolved using saturated NaCl solvent, that observed by microscope. Visual observation results are distinguished by type, is microplastic of type of fiber, fragments, films, and pellets. The average number of types of microplastic most commonly found is the type of fiber found in stations 1 and station 2. ANOVA test results showed that number of fiber in each stations are significantly different, but number of fragment, film, and pellet are not.
