Abstract
As technological developments increase, the need for materials in construction also increases. One of the most needed materials in a construction is cement. The impact of the cement burning process each year in its production generates 1.5 trillion tons of carbon monoxide (CO) gas that can damage the ozone layer that causes global warming. Alternative to the problem is with the use of substitute materials such as fly ash, bottom ash as geopolymer. However, the price of these geopolymer materials is quite expensive. The utilization of red brick waste indicated to contain alumina (Al) and silica (Si) can be applied to geopolymer by mixing alkaline as activator that is NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) and Na2SiO3 (Sodium Silicate) as alternative to fly ash and bottom ash. The method used is the experimental of method, by varying the concentration of molarity in alkaline. From the test results show the longest time setting time that is to the concentration of 8 M and fastest binding time at a concentration of 12 M. The higher the molarity value the higher the value of compressive strength, and this is inversely proportional to the value of porosity.
