Abstract
RISNA SRI RAHAYU. 2023. Optimization of CaCO3 addition on Growth Rate and Survival Rate of Glass Eel (Anguilla sp.). Supervised by ARIF SUPENDI and NOVITA MZ. The main obstacle in eel cultivation that is often faced is the high mortality in the glass eel phase. One of the efforts in maximizing the maintenance of glass eel is through the optimization of alkalinity as a buffer against water quality. The level of alkalinity in the rearing medium can be adjusted through the addition of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of CaCO3 to the maintenance media, on the growth and survival rate of glass eel. The research was conducted for 14 days in March 2023. The method used was a completely randomized design with three replicates in 3 treatments (P1 = 0 mg/L, P2 = 50 mg/L, P3 = 100 mg/L), and analysis of research data through ANOVA test. The addition of CaCO3 produces a real effect on length growth with a value of 0.16 cm, weight growth of 0.73 mg/L, and the survival rate of glass eel with a value of 74%. The best treatment effect is obtained from P2 (50 mg/L). Based on these results it can be concluded that the addition of CaCO3 in glass eel rearing media waters is considered optimal.
