Abstract

The background of this research is the phenomenon of a film that adapts a story from a text in the form of a novel. This phenomenon is known as ecranization, which is the process of transferring a work from textual media to audio-visual media. It is undeniable that converting a novel into a film will undergo a transformation in the process of transferring it because the two media have different structures, so adjustments need to be made in their production. Therefore, this study will analyze how the process of ecranization focuses on adding to the film Ivanna by Kimo Sitamboel, which is the result of an adaptation of the novel Ivanna Van Dijk by Risa Saraswati. The analysis process in this study will use descriptive qualitative methods, using reading, observing, and note-taking techniques to collect data, which will then be analyzed to see how the additions occur in the film Ivanna by Kimo Sitamboel, an adaptation of the novel Ivanna Van Dijk by Risa Saraswati
