Abstract

The high-level thinking skills of students in Indonesia are still quite low, this is evidenced by international programs such as PISA and TIMSS, Indonesia's ranking in these programs is still at a low level. Therefore, this study aims to determine the profile of higher-order thinking skills in problem-based learning based on differentiation, to see an increase in higher-order thinking skills based on the level of understanding possessed by students. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The research subjects were students of MAN 2 Sukabumi City, with a total of 26 students. The sampling technique is purposive sampling using instruments in the form of multiple choice questions. The results of this study show that the percentage of participants' high-level thinking abilities with an average of 73.7% with good criteria, then the N-gain values for high-level thinking abilities in the upper, middle and lower classes are in the medium category, namely in the upper class with a score 0.64, middle class 0.37 and lower class scored 0.36. Therefore this differentiation-based problem-based learning (PBL) is suitable for all classes in improving higher order thinking skills.
