Abstract

Misconception is a problem that exists in the world of education and needs to be eliminated because it can make prolonged mistakes. Misconceptions can be eliminated, one of which is by learning the conceptual change model. This study aims to analyze students' misconceptions about the respiratory system material in high school and to identify whether there are misconceptions. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Cisaat. The population in this study were students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Cisaat and for the sample XI MIPA 6, using a two-teir test assisted by CRI (Certainty of Response Index). Purposive sampling is a quantitative research technique that was employed in this study. 31 grade XI MIPA 6 students were the subjects of the study. In accordance with the study, students' conceptual understanding of the respiratory system was assessed as follows: Concept grasp (PK) 49%, Concept Understanding Less Confident (PKKY) 12%, Misconception (M) 35%, and Not Knowing the Concept (TTK) 27%. The highest percentage of misunderstandings was obtained at level 1 at 42% on indicators diagnosing symptoms of respiratory diseases and at level 2 at 34% on indicators analyzing the influence of respiratory air pollution on respiratory organ systems and with the lowest indicators of clear structure and tissue function on the human napping system 12%. Based on these data, misconceptions that students have on respiratory system material in the medium category
