Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) validity; (2) practicality; and (3) the effectiveness of the ethnomathematics module to improve junior high school students' problem-solving abilities. This type of research and development uses the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were teachers, 22 class VII students of MTs Insan Kamil, and validators. The instruments used in this study were material expert validation sheets to obtain module validity test results, student and teacher response questionnaires to obtain module practicality test results, and students' problem-solving ability tests to obtain module effectiveness test results. The results of the development show that: (1) The product validity of the ethnomathematics module to improve students' problem-solving abilities was successfully developed with a product validity percentage of 86%, which is included in the "Very Valid" category. (2) The practicality of the ethnomathematics module product towards increasing students' problemsolving abilities, with an average result of 87% in the "very practical" category (3) The effectiveness of the ethnomathematics module towards increasing students' problem-solving abilities is indicated by a large n-gain score of 56%, which is included in the medium category.
