Abstract
Hypertension is a condition when blood pressure in blood vessels increases chronically with systolic and diastolic numbers showing numbers more than 140/90 mmHg, this occurs because the heart works harder in pumping blood to meet the body's oxygen and nutrient needs. Hypertension that is not treated immediately can interfere with the function of other organs, especially vital organs such as the heart and kidneys. Hypertension can be controlled through pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques. One of the nonpharmacological measures that can control blood pressure is the finger grip relaxation technique. The finger-grip relaxation technique is a simple relaxation technique with a touch of the hand that involves breathing to balance the energy in the body. The purpose of the application of finger holding relaxation is to cause a sense of comfort and relaxation and can reduce heart rate, respiratory frequency and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This application method involves observation and interviews, with one participant who has been diagnosed with hypertension. This finger holding relaxation therapy was carried out for 3 days in 3 meetings with a duration of 15-30 minutes. The results of the application of finger grip relaxation show a significant decrease in blood pressure in controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients, on the first day before application 189/100 mmHg after being done to 174/100 mmHg, on the second day before being done 160/100 mmHg after being done to 155/90 mmHg and on the third day before being done 156/76 mmHg after application the results were 147/96 mmHg. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the application of finger grip relaxation in controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
