Abstract
Background: Post partum is the period from after the placenta is born until the return of the reproductive organs to normal conditions or before pregnancy. The puerperium period is also considered a critical period for both mothers and babies because at that time mothers can experience stress affecting the sustainability of breastfeeding. In breastfeeding, there are several obstacles or obstacles, including breast milk is not smooth. One of the non-smooth breastfeeding is swollen breasts. The occurrence of swelling in the breast, milk will collect in the lactoferous duct area. To overcome the smoothness of milk production and swollen breasts can be overcome with warm compresses. Warm compresses on the breast is one of the non-pharmacological methods that is considered very effective in reducing pain and muscle spasm and can improve blood circulation to an area. Research Objective: this was done to understand and apply warm breast compresses to facilitate breast milk in postpartum mothers. Data collection method: the method of preparing this Scientific Paper by conducting direct observation and interviews. A preliminary study conducted by researchers in the Surade Health Center working area obtained data on 12 postpartum mothers experiencing ineffective breastfeeding problems. Application results: the author applied a warm breast compress once a meeting for three consecutive days, this application was done so that breast milk became smooth and swelling in the breast decreased. Conclusion: that there is a significant effect of applying warm breast compresses to breastfeeding is not effective. Warm compresses on swollen breasts are highly recommended to be routinely done, especially in postpartum mothers who experience ineffective breastfeeding and swollen breasts
