Abstract
Stroke is a major health problem in the world. Stroke ranks third as the cause of death, in 2013 there were 5.5 million people died and increased by 12% in 2018, namely around 14 million people. Nationally, the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia in 2018 based on doctors' diagnoses in the population aged 15 years and over was 10.9% or an estimated 2,120,362 people. In West Java, it is ranked 11th with the number (11.4%) or an estimated 52,511 people. More than 9.7 million new cases of non-hemorrhagic stroke. Approximately 60% of strokes that occur each year, arefound at the age of <70 years. Every year, 51.9 million people experience deathand disability from non-hemorrhagic strokes. One of the symptoms of a nonhemorrhagic stroke is difficulty speaking (damaged verbal communication) or understanding speech. Impaired verbal communication is a condition where a person cannot communicate effectively due to inhibiting factors in the form of physical or mental disabilities. Impaired or damaged verbal communication in stroke patients can be in the form of aphasia and dysarthria. Aphasia can be controlled through pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, such as theapplication of AIUEO vocal therapy. The purpose of implementing this therapy is to evaluate its effectiveness in improving motor function in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with aphasia. This method of application involved observation and interviews, with one veteran who was diagnosed with aphasia. AIUEO vocal therapy is carried out routinely every day for 7 consecutive days, with a duration of5 minutes per session. The results of applying AIUEO vocal therapy showed an increase in the patient's motor function as measured using the DERBY scale. Overall these findings indicate that the application of AIUEO vocal therapy has an effect on improving motor function in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with aphasia. This finding addresses the potential benefit of non-pharmacological interventions in managing symptoms associated with aphasia
