Abstract

Agriculture is a field that is closely related to human life. Indonesia itself is known as an agricultural country, so Indonesia has enormous agricultural potential. The increasing demand for food in Indonesia also increases public awareness to promote Indonesian agriculture. Planting plants using the hydroponic method is also one of the proofs that agriculture has begun to develop, in addition to the process which is not too complicated and takes up a lot of land like planting with conventional methods, the yields produced are no less competitive than those with conventional methods. The most common type of leaf vegetable in hydroponic cultivation. So that plants can always be protected from attacks by pests and diseases, an expert system consulting diseases and pests in hydroponic plants was created using the Backward Chaining method. Plants with types of leaf vegetables such as green lettuce, kale, mustard greens, pakcoy, spinach and celery with the creation of this consulting system can solve problems regarding knowledge of diseases and pests that can attack. Backward Chaining is a method in expert systems that solves problems based on goals or goal-driven. The stages used to solve this problem are starting from knowledge acquisition, knowledge representation, making rules or rules, and making decision trees. The data used were 6 types of leaf vegetable plants, namely kale, green lettuce, mustard greens, spinach, pakcoy and celery, with 24 types of disease and 75 symptoms and 31 solutions. Application testing is carried out by hydroponic vegetable farmers using black box testing with results that can help farmers and become a means of outreach to some people who want to start growing leaf vegetables with the hydroponic method.
