Abstract
Background: Hypertension is one of the degenerative diseases that is a serious problem today. Hypertension is categorized as the silent disease or the silent killer because often patients are not aware of their condition until organ damage occurs. Symptoms of hypertension are usually vague, such as acute pain, acute pain in hypertensive patients such as headaches and neck pain, so they are often ignored. One of the actions that can be taken to reduce acute pain in hypertension is to provide non-pharmacological measures with warm compresses. Warm compresses are giving a feeling of warmth / heat in certain areas. Objective: To determine whether the application of warm compresses can reduce pain in patients with hypertension. Methods: Observations made by observing the client's vital signs, the client's daily lifestyle, such as the environment, diet and other activities can cause an increase in blood pressure. Interviews by conducting direct questions and answers with patients to dig up data orally or subjective nursing data. A literature study was conducted to apply a warm compress to Mrs. D with acute pain in hypertension patients by searching for related journals. Results: Based on the research, pain management in the form of warm compresses can reduce pain scale in hypertensive patients. Discussion: Warm compresses can provide a warm feeling in certain areas, because the heat generated is able to palliate blood vessels so that blood flow and oxygen supply will be smooth, thereby relieving muscle tension resulting in reduced pain. Conclusion: The results of this literature review show that the application of warm compresses can reduce pain in hypertensive patien.
