Abstract

In an investigation of a crime against life that caused the death of the victim as a result of a legal event that occurred, a Visum et Repertum was carried out in the form of an Autopsy to reveal a criminal act that accurred against the deceased victim. Lack of public awareness of the importance of autopsies on deceased victims by rejecting autopsies, this becomes an obstacle for investigators to obtain evidace in the form of expert testimony. This study uses a normative juridical approach. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data, including data taken directly at the Resort Police Sukabumi City, as well as direct interviews with related agencies. Meanwhile, data processing is used by means of data selection, data clarification and data compilation. The processed data were analyzed qualitatively. The result of this study indicate that the criminal investigation investigator is assisted by the INAFIS Unit investigator in identifying the crime scene and the identity of the victim and perpetrator by finding and matching the fingerprints at the scene of the case with the database in the police system, and the position of the autopsies in the investigator of the crime of murder. This is very important because they provide information and instruction for investigators in carrying out a series of investigations from the beginning of the investigation to the submission of case file to the prosecutor’s office. The conclusion of this study is that the autopsy result have an important position, in addition to determining the cause of death of the victim, the autopsy can provide clues to investigators. The function of the INAFIS Unit is as an investigation investigators in identifying crime scenes and fingerprints at the crime scene. And the function of forensic medicine is to assist investigators in conduction autopsies to determine the cause of death of the victim.
