Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is the 3rd leading cause of death in the world. Data released by RISKESDAS in 2018 stated that the number of COPD sufferers in Indonesia reached 4,361,568 people, with the prevalence of COPD patients in West Java reaching 835,918 people. The problem encountered in COPD patients is a disturbance in breathing patterns. In this scientific paper, the author will discuss a non-pharmacological technique called the Active Cycle of Breathing Technique that can improve the patient's breathing pattern. The purpose of implementing ACBT is to understand and apply the Acrive Cycle of Breathing Technique in COPD patients with ineffective breathing patterns. After applying the ACBT technique for 3 consecutive days in 1 week, the results showed a significant decrease in breathing frequency and an improved breathing pattern. The conclusion obtained is that the Active Cycle of Breathing technique is a chest physiotherapy technique that has an effect on the treatment of ineffective breathing pattern problems in COPD patients.
