Abstract
Constipation is common in children. The prevalence of constipation in children reaches 30% and this condition needs attention because about 24% persist into adulthood. This is due to a lack of fibre intake. Management of constipation in children can be done with nonpharmacological therapy in the form of massage therapy with effleurage technique. This scientific paper aims to provide nursing care and apply the effleurage technique to children who are constipated. The method of writing scientific papers uses case studies with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, physical examinations, literature studies, and documentation. In the study, it was found that the child could not defecate for six days and the consistency of the stool was hard and dry. The diagnosis formulated was constipation related to insufficient fibre intake. The author conducted the effleurage technique on children with constipation for five consecutive days with a time of 30 minutes. The results obtained after doing this effleurage technique on the third day there was a change in the consistency of the child's stool to become soft, faeces can come out without straining for too long, and do not wince in pain. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of giving massage therapy with the effleurage technique on children who experience constipation. Every family must have basic knowledge about constipation management, namely by learning massage therapy with effleurage techniques so that families can do it independently. In addition, providing foods that contain high fibre can also overcome constipation.
