Abstract
This research is motivated by the problems of the monotonous physical education learning process. In addition the decline in student interest is an important problem to examine, therefore, this study aims to determine student’s interest in participating in physical education learning. This research is quantitative descriptive , using a single variable. The population in this study were all students of class VIII which amounted to 289 students. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with Slovin formula, and obtained a sample of 167 students. Data collection techniques used observation and questionnaires that have received expert approval and tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis technique using quantitative analysis which is described in the form of a percentage (%) to later describe. In the process of using computer-assisted calculation program Microsoft Excel 2013. The results showed that for the category of very high intrest with a percentage of 6.59% total of 11 students, the high category with a percentage of 22.75% totaling to 38 students, the medium category with a percentage of 40.12% amounting to 67 students, the low category with a percentage of 23.95 % totaling 40 students, and the very low category with a percentage of 6.59% totaling 11 students. Thus, referring to the highest percentage of any category, then the interests of class V111 student at SMPN 1 Sukaraja is in the medium category with a percentage of 40.12%
