Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) has determined that constipation is the main cause of death for children in the world. Based on data on the prevalence of constipation in Indonesia in 2014 of 3,857,327 people in children aged 3-12 years, of course this makes constipation a major problem for children in Indonesia and in the world. Therefore, there are many ways that can be way of treatment of this problem by experts in order to find a solution to this disease, either using medical or therapeutic methods. In this scientific paper the author will discuss the treatment of constipation using therapeutic methods, one of which is using massage therapy, massage therapy itself provides benefits to constipation by stimulating peristalsis and reducing colon transit time so that it can increase the frequency of defecation. Based on the results of applying what the authors did, it can be concluded that therapeutic treatment using massage therapy has its advantages and disadvantages, one of the short comings that often occurs in this medical therapy treatment is patients who feel pain when given massage therapy. Treatment through medical means of course has advantages and disadvantages, one of the short comings of treatment that often occurs in medical treatment is that children are difficult to give medicine, so the conclusion from what the author can conclude is that the provision of medical treatment with the help of massage therapy treatment is the best solution for the treatment of constipation disease.
