Abstract
The aging process will experience changes and will cause various health problems, one of which is hypertension. Hypertension is one of the most common causes of death. Hypertension can be controlled by pharmacological and nonpharmacological management. One of the non-pharmacological management is doing exercise and relaxation therapy in the form of ergonomic exercise. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ergonomic exercise on blood pressure in the elderly. The method of this study is a qualitative descriptive study with a case study strategy, using 1 participant, namely Mrs. S who has hypertension. The action was carried out for 3 visits by giving ergonomic gymnastics exercises for ± 30 minutes, measuring blood pressure in the pre-test and post-test and interviews. The results of this study showed that blood pressure began to decrease significantly at the 3rd visit by 10 mmHg in systolic blood pressure. This study concludes that ergonomic exercise is effective in reducing blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. Researchers suggest that ergonomic exercise can be used as a non-pharmacological therapy for the elderly with hypertension or high blood pressure.
