Abstract

Elderly is a period of decline physically, mentally and socially. The aging process causes a decrease in organ function and muscle strength. One of the problems of physical decline is low back pain. Low back pain is a condition that does not wear or is chronic pain for at least three months accompanied by limited activity caused by pain when doing movement or mobilization. To reduce pain, warm compress therapy is given. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of warm compresses on pain. This research uses case study method. The data collection method used interview, observation, and physical examination techniques. Participants who took as many as one respondent, namely the elderly aged 63 years with low back pain. The results showed that the client's pain was reduced after being given a warm compress, the pain felt normal in the lower back with a scale from 5 to 2, the pain was felt when lifting heavy weights. Based on these results, it can be concluded that warm compress therapy can reduce pain scale in elderly low back pain.
