Abstract

Patients with bronchial asthma based on a doctor's diagnosis in the population of all ages in West Java Province were 2.79% or 73,285 people. In Cianjur Regency alone, asthma sufferers are 1.41% or 3,413 people. The purpose of implementing this application is to determine the effect of Slow Deep Breathing therapy on breathing patterns in asthma in Kp. Bojongsari Rt 03 / Rw 03 Sukaluyu Village, Sukaluyu District, Cianjur Regency. The method in this scientific paper is a case study using Slow Deep Breathing therapy. The method in this case is a case study by comparing theory with Slow Deep Breathing therapy techniques. Asthma is a disease of the respiratory tract that is narrowed due to hyperreactivity by certain risk factors, causing symptoms of shortness of breath and wheezing. Slow Deep Breathing therapy is a relaxation technique by taking deep, slow breaths (inspiration maximally slowly) and exhaling slowly. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation and literature study. In this scientific paper, the author takes one participant who has a history of asthma against breathing patterns so that he is given Slow Deep Breathing therapy. The implementation results show a change when given Slow Deep Breathing therapy to clients with asthma who experience ineffective breathing patterns. At the time of comparison, there was no gap between theory and case that Slow Deep Breathing therapy was equally effective on the breathing pattern of a person with a history of asthma. The conclusion of this paper is that the application of Slow Deep Breathing therapy techniques can increase the level of control of breathing patterns so that it can be used as an alternative choice of independent action in addition to the use of medical therapy.
