Abstract
According to WHO, Gastritis has increased from year to year with a prevalence of 274,396 cases (40.8%). In the health profile in Indonesia in 2016, gastritis was one of the 10 most common diseases in hospitalized patients with 30,154 cases. The general purpose of this application is to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation applications on pain intensity in gastritis patients in the Surade Health Center working area by using the case method with data collection techniques through interviews, direct observation and literature studies. The results of the study showed that the client experienced gastritis pain in the pit of the stomach like a stabbing that occurred continuously, with a pain scale of 4 (0-10). The results of the implementation showed that there was a change after the patient was given progressive muscle relaxation once a day for 30 minutes with 15 consecutive movements, the pain experienced disappeared from a pain scale of 4 to 0 (0-10). And clients know how to control pain using non-pharmacological techniques with progressive muscle relaxation.
