Abstract

Children are individuals in the process of growth in terms of psychological and biological, someone who is still in the process of growth is susceptible to disease because the immune system in a child's body in the process of growth will develop according to the child's own growth, so that health problems in children are the biggest threat to parents. which must be avoided and anticipated. One of the problems that often occur in children is fever. Fever is a condition in which the individual experiences an increase in body temperature above normal, in general, to determine a person's body temperature, namely by keeping his hand on the forehead or to be more accurately measured using a thermometer. A person who has a fever will feel heat throughout the body from head to toe. The first aid that is usually done to treat fever problems is using warm water compresses, the way is by attaching a cloth that has been moistened with warm water on parts of the body that have large blood vessels such as the forehead, axillae, abdomen, groin or neck. There are several variations in the warm water compress technique, one of the innovations in warm water compresses that the author discusses is the onion compress to reduce hyperthermia in fever/febrile children. The results showed a positive effect with a decrease in body temperature in children. In addition, handling fever using this method is faster than warm water compresses, but it is certainly more effective if it is collaborated with the administration of antipyretic drugs, so what the authors can conclude from the results of this study is that the application of red onion compresses with medical treatment can reduce fever in child to the maximum.
