Abstract
The purpose of the study is to describe the ability of adaptive mathematical reasoning to solve the problem of hots. The type of research used is qualitative research methods. Design Research used is the design of descriptive research. Data collection techniques used in the form of tests and interviews. The study subject was 6 students of grade VIII SMP. The collection of subjects on this study used purposive sampling. Based on the results of the study showed that students who have high adaptive reasoning ability meet four indicators that is able to compose the alleged, able to provide the reason or evidence against a statement, ready to conclude an account, and able to examine the validity of an argument. Students who have the ability of adaptive reasoning are fulfilling three indicators which is able to provide reason or evidence against a statement, able to draw conclusions from a statement, and able to examine the validity of an argument. Meanwhile, students with low adaptive reasoning capability meet one indicators which is capable of filing allegations.
