Abstract

This research entitled “Ekranisasi Novel Stardust Karya Neil Gaiman dan Film Stardust Karya Matthew Vaughn”. This research have an aim to describe ecranisation of plot and character, in the form of reduction, addition, and variation of change categorization. The implemented research method upon this research is descriptive qualitative with structural approach. The research result pointing into the conclusion of plot and character ecranisation process, as the main result is reduction, addition, and variation of change categorization. Reduction process upon plot and characters occurred because of the difference of main media of novel and film itself, and also the main plot that describing the main character generally also mainly different. Reduction process will not vary from the main idea of the story. Addition of plot and character still synchronized with the novel main idea. Addition of plot also give an extra “selling point” for gathering viewers. Addition inside the movie also supporting the main plot, in purpose of more understandable by the viewers. Variation of change of plot and character attempted in purpose of to closing the novel’s vary aspect in actual visualization of film.
