Abstract

This research is entitled “Perilaku Obsesif Cinta Tokoh Utama Wanita dalam Novel The Hollow Karya Agatha Christie”. The aims of this research are to describe female and male characters physically and socially and to describe the obsessive behavior of the female character, Gerda. The method used in this study is qualitative, which is explained descriptively using an objective approach. The technique used for this research is the note technique and taking technique. The picture of the main female character (Gerda) and male figure (Dr. John Christow) is depicted based on three aspects, namely physical, psychological and social. In this research, the obsessive behavior experienced by the main female character, Gerda, was felt when she sincerely loved her husband, John, like a God, but unfortunately because she’s too obedient, John was bored and betrayed. After Gerda found out the reality, she was doing something improper by killing her own husband.The results of this study, the picture of the main female character (Gerda) and male figure (Dr. John Christow) is depicted based on three aspects, namely physical, psychological and social. In this research, the theory of characters and characterization from Baldic (37) and Aminuddin (79), obsessive behavior theory from Semium (251), and Krech’s love theory (477) in Minderop (45), The main theory used is Minderop's (55) literary psychology theory.
